Private Walking Tour Pricing

Half-day Tours  (up to 4 hours)  ¥35,000 (about US$245) plus guide's expenses*

Full-day Tours (up to 7 hours)  ¥48,000 (about US$335) plus guide's expenses*
  • *Guide's expenses include transportation costs after meeting you; entrance fees to temples, etc; and lunch on full-day excursions. These expenses are generally paid for on-the-spot.

  • Fees are the same regardless of how many members are in a group. This is not a per-person fee. However, the group size is limited to 5 people. Larger groups are possible upon request. 

Payment

​There are two ways to pay:
  1. Cash - In Japanese Yen cash in person at the end of the tour.
  2. Credit Card - Via PayPal at least one week prior to the tour date, with an additional 10% service charge. You do not need a PayPal account.
*Expenses include my transportation fees once we meet and entrance fees, paid as we go along. Expenses are NOT included in PayPal payments.

Payment Notes:
  • Credit Card Payment is made online using PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account. There is a 10% service charge on credit card payments.
  • U.S. Dollar prices shown above are for reference only. They are approximate and are based on exchange rates as of August 2023. Exchange rates change daily. Please use the XE Currency Convertor to find up to the minute exchange rates for all world currencies.
  • Tours outside of Kyoto City are possible at additional cost. Ask me.

Logistics

How to Book a Private Tour
  1. Contact me by email, phone or using the Contact Form on the Contact Page. I will reply as soon as possible.
  2. We will plan your tour together, either with a 15-minute scheduled call or via email. (Zoom, WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Skype, LINE and regular phone calls are OK. Other apps are possible).
  3. We will meet on the scheduled day in the lobby of your hotel lobby or another location agreed upon earlier.
My phone number is +81-090-9276-3668. Please call between 7am and 10pm Japan Time. You can call me at the last minute. Sometimes I am available.

  • NOTE: I do not answer my phone while I am out with my clients. Please leave a message and I will get back with you as soon as possible.

Planning
  • Online calls are the most effective way to plan your tour. 
  • When will you arrive in Kyoto? What would you like to see? 
  • The tour group size is limited to 5 people. This allows for a more enjoyable experience. Larger groups are possible at additional cost. Contact me for more information.
  • Transportation:  We may use a combination of trains, buses, taxis and walking, depending upon the situation. It is possible for you to hire a car and driver for a day. Please ask me if you are interested.
  • I strongly suggest that you do NOT rent a car in Japanese cities, which can be a nightmare. The public transportation system is excellent. 
  • Please note that I am NOT a licensed travel agent and I can NOT make any bookings for you. (ie: hiring a car, making dinner reservations or booking hotel rooms). 

Questions for You
  • Do you have any dietary restrictions? On full-day excursions, we will stop for lunch at around midday. Please be aware that most Japanese restaurants are not flexible with their menus, unlike in the West. It is better for me to know about this ahead of time so that I can plan accordingly.
  • Do you have any mobility issues? Usually we do a lot of walking, but I can adapt your tour accordingly.
When to Book a Tour?
  • Please book your tours as far in advance as possible, especially during the peak times in late March/April and November/early December. My schedule can fill up quickly.
  • But don't be afraid to contact me on short notice. My schedule is fluid. It is possible to contact me and have a tour on the same day. I check my email first thing in the morning.

  • If you do call and I don't answer, please be patient. It can take a while for the voicemail to pick up. I will get back with you as soon as possible.

Tour Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel a tour because of unforeseen events, please do so in as far advance as possible.
  • If you cancel on the day before the scheduled date, we ask that you pay 50% of the tour fee.
  • In case of a same-day cancellation, or a "no-show", we ask that you pay 100% of the tour fee.
